Fed: Crean says rollback and social services both priorities

Opposition finance spokesman SIMON CREAN says rollback and investment in social services
are both top priorities for Labor at the federal election.

Labor has come under fire from Treasurer PETER COSTELLO after senior opposition backbencher
BOB MCMULLAN said the debate over tax cuts was elite prattle.

Mr CREAN has responded by insisting rollback remains Labor's priority, but shares top
spot with other important issues such as fixing schools and hospitals.

Mr CREAN told ABC Radio that with rollback it's still possible to have money left over
for fixing schools and hospitals.

Mr CREAN has defended Mr MCMULLAN's intervention in the tax issue, saying he was responding
to a poll that appeared in newspapers earlier in the week.
