Under-strength Brid struggle.

WITH several front-line players missing, Bridlington could only manage to take seven points from their York senior league game at Beverley when they had the worst of a draw.

Sam Edmundson won the toss and invited Beverley to bat first and Bridlington started fairly well as the first four wickets were down for 85, with Edmundson doing a fine job for his team by picking up three wickets for 32 in a very good nine-over spell.

When the dangerous Todd was bowled by Casey Rudd, Brid had their tails up but Parnaby, partnered first by Gillyon and then by Acklam, made them suffer as a couple of chances went begging and Beverley finished with more than at one stage seemed likely when they closed on 233/7 (Parnaby 58no and Sam Edmundson taking 4-59 and Casey Rudd 2-55).

When Bridlington batted they did not start too well, losing Casey Rudd and Rich Lount by the time the score had reached 27.

Nick Tennant and Barry Rudd then pulled things round, taking the score to 86 before Tennant was caught by Spence for 34.

Barry Rudd was also caught by Gillyon shortly after for 35.

Steve Briggs, recalled to the first team, batted well as he was joined by his captain and the pair set out to try to get Brid to 75% of Beverley's total for extra points.

Briggs was unluckily adjudged lbw for 17 and Edmundson soon followed, stumped for 32 going for runs.

When Hutton was out for one Brid found it too much to get the necessary runs for the extra points and settled for the draw.

Although this result was a big blow to Bridlington, things could have been worse as, apart from Hornsea, …
